Nārada said: “That sovereignty you once bestowed has now taken firm root, supported by the circle of kinsmen. Therefore, even by you it cannot be taken back again—like food that has already been vomited.”

Educational Q&A

Once authority or wealth has been granted and has become socially entrenched with the backing of kin and allies, retracting it is both impracticable and ethically improper; a ruler should consider consequences before bestowing power.

Nārada cautions that a previously conferred sovereignty has become firmly established through the support of the recipient’s clan; therefore it cannot be reclaimed, just as vomited food cannot be taken back.
