य एवं वर्तते नित्य॑ ज्ञातिसम्बन्धिमण्डले । मित्रेष्वमित्रे मध्यस्थे चिरं यशसि तिकछति,जो कुट॒म्बी, सगे-सम्बन्धी, मित्र, शत्रु तथा मध्यस्थ व्यक्तियोंकी मण्डलीमें सदा इसी नीतिसे व्यवहार करता है, वह चिरकालतक यशस्वी बना रहता है
ya evaṁ vartate nityaṁ jñāti-sambandhi-maṇḍale | mitreṣv amitre madhyasthé ciraṁ yaśasi tiṣṭhati ||
Bhīṣma said: One who consistently conducts himself in this manner within the circle of kinsmen and relations—toward friends, foes, and those who stand neutral—remains established in lasting fame.
