कीर्तिमांस्तस्य पुत्रो5भूत्‌ सोडपि पठ्चातिगो5भवत्‌ | कर्दमस्तस्य तु सुत: सोडप्यतप्यन्महत्‌ तप:,विरजाके कीर्तिमान्‌ नामक एक पुत्र हुआ। वह भी पाँचों विषयोंसे ऊपर उठकर मोक्षमार्गका ही अवलम्बन करने लगा। कीर्तिमानके पुत्र हुए कर्दम। वे भी बड़ी भारी तपस्यामें लग गये

kīrtimāṁs tasya putro ’bhūt so ’pi pañcātigo ’bhavat | kardamas tasya tu sutaḥ so ’py atapyat mahat tapaḥ |

Bhīṣma said: “He had a son named Kīrtimān. That son too rose beyond the five objects of sense and took refuge in the path leading to liberation. Kīrtimān then had a son, Kardama; and he also undertook great austerities.”
