Varṇa-dharma and Rājadharma: Yudhiṣṭhira’s Inquiry and Bhīṣma’s Normative Outline (वर्णधर्म-राजधर्म-प्रश्नोत्तरम्)
अध्यायानां सहस्नरेण काव्य: संक्षेपमब्रवीत् । तच्छास्त्रममितप्रज्ञो योगाचार्यो महायशा:,फिर महायशस्वी, योगशास्त्रके आचार्य तथा अमित बुद्धिमान् शुक्राचार्यने एक हजार अध्यायोंमें उस शास्त्रका संक्षेप किया
adhyāyānāṁ sahasreṇa kāvyaḥ saṁkṣepam abravīt | tacchāstram amitaprajño yogācāryo mahāyaśā ||
Bhīṣma said: The illustrious teacher of Yoga, Śukrācārya—renowned and of immeasurable intellect—set forth a concise compendium of that doctrine, compressing it into a thousand chapters. In this way, a vast body of teaching was rendered accessible through disciplined summary and authoritative instruction.
भीष्म उवाच
That authoritative knowledge (śāstra), especially Yoga as a disciplined path, is preserved and made practicable through skilled condensation and clear instruction by a qualified teacher; the emphasis is on transmission, accessibility, and fidelity to doctrine.
Bhīṣma, instructing on dharma in the Śānti Parva, cites the famed and wise Śukrācārya as an exemplar of a yogic authority who summarized an extensive teaching into a structured compendium of a thousand chapters.
