बलव्यसनमुक्त च तथैव बलहर्षणम् | पीडा चापदकालकश्न पत्तिज्ञानं च पाण्डव,पाण्डुकुमार! विपत्तिसे सेनाओंका उद्धार करना, सैनिकोंका हर्ष और उत्साह बढ़ाना, पीड़ा और आपत्तिके समय पैदल सैनिकोंकी स्वामिभक्तिकी परीक्षा करना--इन सब बातोंका उस शास्त्रमें वर्णन किया गया है
Translation
Bhīṣma said: “O son of Pāṇḍu, that treatise describes how to deliver armies from calamity, how to raise the soldiers’ joy and ardor, and how, in times of pain and crisis, to test the foot-soldiers’ loyalty to their lord.”
