शुभं हि कर्म राजेन्द्र शुभत्वायोपकल्पते । तुल्यस्यैकस्य यस्यायं लोको वचसि तिछते,राजेन्द्र! शुभ कर्मका परिणाम शुभ ही होता है, कभी तो अन्य मनुष्योंके समान होनेपर भी एक-मात्र राजाकी आज्ञामें यह सारा जगत् स्थित रहता है
śubhaṃ hi karma rājendra śubhatvāyopakalpate | tulyasyaikasya yasyāyaṃ loko vacasi tiṣṭhate ||
Bhīṣma said: “O best of kings, truly a good deed conduces to goodness and yields an auspicious result. And it is a wonder: though he is but one person like others, the whole world stands obedient to the command of that single king.”
भीष्म उवाच
Good actions naturally lead to good outcomes, and righteous kingship has a unique social power: even one person, when invested with legitimate authority and dharma, can hold the many in orderly obedience.
In the Śānti Parva dialogue, Bhīṣma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on governance and moral conduct, emphasizing both the fruit of auspicious action and the remarkable capacity of a king’s command to organize society.
