Departure to Behold Bhīṣma
ततो युधिष्ठिरस्यापि राज्ञो मज़लसंहिता: । उच्चेरुर्मधुरा वाचो गतिवादित्रनि:स्वना:,तत्पश्चात् राजा युधिष्ठिरके भवनसे भी मधुर, मज़्लमयी वाणी तथा गीत-वाद्यकी ध्वनि प्रकट होने लगी
tato yudhiṣṭhirasya api rājño maṅgalasaṃhitāḥ | ūcerur madhurā vāco gītivāditraniḥsvanāḥ ||
Then, around King Yudhiṣṭhira as well, auspicious and harmonious sounds arose—sweet words of benediction and the resonant tones of song and musical instruments—signaling a shift from turmoil toward ordered, dharmic well-being.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores that righteous rule and inner steadiness are accompanied by maṅgala—signs of harmony such as blessings, sweet speech, and music—suggesting that dharmic order manifests not only in policy but also in the atmosphere of society.
Vaiśampāyana reports that in Yudhiṣṭhira’s surroundings auspicious, pleasing sounds begin to be heard—benedictory words along with singing and instrumental music—marking a ceremonial or celebratory moment after distress, consistent with the Shānti Parva’s movement toward peace and governance.
