Departure to Behold Bhīṣma
गां खुराग्रैस्तथा राजन् लिखन्त: प्रययुस्तदा । राजन्! उस समय दारुवद्धारा हाँके गये श्रीकृष्णके वे घोड़े अपनी टापोंके अग्रभागसे पृथ्वीपर चिह्न बनाते हुए बड़े वेगसे दौड़े
gāṃ khurāgrais tathā rājan likhantaḥ prayayus tadā |
Vaiśampāyana said: “O King, at that time they sped on, their hoof-tips scoring marks upon the earth.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse uses vivid motion—hoof-tips marking the earth—to suggest the inevitability and force of unfolding action: when one is carried forward by duty and circumstance, the world itself records the passage, and outcomes follow swiftly.
Vaiśampāyana describes a rapid departure or advance: they move at great speed, and the hooves (or hoof-tips) scratch visible marks into the ground as they go.
