Paraśurāma’s origins and the depletion/restoration of kṣatriya lineages
स तेनाकुण्ठधारेण ज्वलितानलवर्चसा । कुठारेणाप्रमेयेण लोकेष्वप्रतिमो5भवत्
sa tenākuṇṭhadhāreṇa jvalitānalavarcāsā | kuṭhāreṇāprameyeṇa lokeṣv apratimo 'bhavat ||
With that axe whose edge never grew blunt, blazing with the radiance of a flaming fire, he became incomparable among all worlds. By means of that immeasurable, mighty axe, Paraśurāma attained unrivaled heroic eminence everywhere.
वासुदेव उवाच
Extraordinary prowess is portrayed as arising from an unfailing instrument and inner splendor; ethically, the verse highlights how power (śakti) can elevate one’s stature across the worlds, implying the need for dharmic restraint in its use.
Vāsudeva describes Paraśurāma’s fearsome excellence: armed with an axe whose edge never dulls and shining like fire, he becomes unmatched throughout the worlds due to that immeasurable weapon-power.
