Bhīṣma said: The seeker who has renounced all desires and abides with undivided devotion, free from craving, beholds within the purified, sinless self the Self—Govinda—through the vision that leads to the Infinite. Liberation is won not by outward display but by inner cleansing, steadfast one-pointedness, and direct insight into the indwelling Lord.

Liberation-oriented realization arises when one abandons cravings, becomes inwardly purified, and maintains undivided focus; then one directly perceives Govinda, the Supreme Self, within one’s own self.
In the Śānti Parva’s instruction on dharma and liberation, Bhīṣma teaches Yudhiṣṭhira the inner discipline of renunciation and one-pointed contemplation, describing how the seeker comes to direct vision of the indwelling Lord.
