नाग उवाच अनुक्त्वा हृद्गतं कार्य क्वेदानीं प्रस्थितो भवान्‌ । उच्यतां द्विज यत्‌ कार्य यदर्थ त्वमिहागत:

Translation

The Nāga said: “O foremost of Brahmins, you have not yet spoken what lies within your heart—where do you set out now? Tell me, O twice-born: what is your task, and for what purpose have you come here?”
