नागभायोवाच आर्य: सूर्यरथं वोढुं गतोडसौ मासचारिक: । सप्ताष्टभिर्दिनैर्विप्र दर्शयिष्यत्यसंशयम्‌,नागपत्नीने कहा--विप्रवर! मेरे माननीय पतिदेव सूर्यदेवका रथ ढोनेके लिये गये हुए हैं। वर्ष एक बार एक मासतक उन्हें यह कार्य करना पड़ता है। पंद्रह दिनोंमें ही वे यहाँ दर्शन देंगे--इसमें संशय नहीं है

Transliteration

Nāgabhāryovāca: āryaḥ sūryarathaṁ voḍhuṁ gato ’sau māsacārikaḥ | saptāṣṭabhir dinair vipra darśayiṣyaty asaṁśayam ||

Translation

The Nāga’s wife said: “Noble sir, my husband has gone to bear the chariot of the Sun. This duty comes to him for a month each year. Within seven or eight days, O brāhmaṇa, he will surely appear here—there is no doubt.”
