The brāhmaṇa said: “As a bed brings relief to a traveler worn out by the road, as a seat comforts one whose feet ache from standing, as water satisfies the thirsty, and as food gladdens a man tormented by hunger—so has my heart been pleased on hearing your words.”

The verse praises the power of timely support and kind, fitting words: just as basic necessities (rest, a seat, water, food) relieve specific forms of suffering, so wise speech can bring immediate inner comfort and joy.
A brāhmaṇa responds appreciatively to what has been said to him, using vivid comparisons to express how deeply satisfied and comforted he feels upon hearing the other person’s words.
