अध्याय ३५१ — उञ्छवृत्ति-व्रतसिद्धेः मानुषस्य परमगतिः

मया होषा हि प्रियते पातालस्थेन भोगिना । मया धृता धारयति जगद्‌ विश्व॑ं चराचरम्‌,“मैं पातालमें शेषनागके रूपसे रहकर इस पृथ्वीको धारण करता हूँ और मेरेद्वारा धारित होकर यह सम्पूर्ण चराचर जगत्‌को धारण करती है

mayā hoṣā hi priyate pātālasthena bhoginā | mayā dhṛtā dhārayati jagad viśvaṃ carācaram |

Vaiśampāyana said: “I, abiding in Pātāla in the form of the serpent Śeṣa, uphold this Earth. Supported by me, she in turn bears the entire universe—everything moving and unmoving.”
