Vaiśampāyana said: One who is exclusively devoted, ever steadfast, and who takes Nārāyaṇa as the sole refuge—by continually contemplating Puruṣottama, the Supreme Person—attains Him and fulfills the heart’s intended goal.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Exclusive, unwavering devotion to Nārāyaṇa—expressed as continuous contemplation of the Supreme Person—leads to attaining Him and fulfilling the highest spiritual aim.
Vaiśampāyana, in the didactic setting of Śānti Parva, states a general spiritual principle: the devotee who remains one-pointed and constantly remembers Puruṣottama (Nārāyaṇa) reaches the Lord.
