वैशम्पायन उवाच एतच्छुत्वा तयोर्वाक्‍्यं तपस्युग्रे च वर्ततो: । नारद: प्राउ्जलिर्भूत्वा नारायणपरायण:,वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--जनमेजय! कठोर तपस्यामें लगे हुए भगवान्‌ नर और नारायणकी यह बात सुनकर नारदजीने उन्हें हाथ जोड़कर प्रणाम किया और नारायणकी शरण लेकर उन्हींकी आराधनामें लग गये

vaiśampāyana uvāca: etac chrutvā tayor vākyaṃ tapasy ugre ca vartatoḥ | nāradaḥ prāñjalir bhūtvā nārāyaṇa-parāyaṇaḥ ||

Vaiśampāyana said: O Janamejaya, hearing these words of the two—Nara and Nārāyaṇa—who were engaged in severe austerity, Nārada joined his hands in reverence and bowed to them; and taking refuge in Nārāyaṇa alone, he devoted himself to His worship.
