Vaiśampāyana said: O king, when the rites of hospitality had been duly performed, the two sat upon their seats. And as they sat there, that place shone with a special splendor—made auspicious by their presence and by the proper honoring of the guest.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights atithya-dharma (the duty of honoring guests): when hospitality is properly performed and worthy persons are respectfully seated, the very place becomes auspicious and radiant—suggesting that ethical conduct sanctifies space.
After the hosts complete the formalities of welcoming and honoring guests, the two individuals sit on seats. Their settled presence, together with the completed hospitality, makes the setting appear especially splendid.
