Atithi-satkāra and the Consolation of Wise Counsel (अतिथिसत्कारः प्रज्ञानवचनस्य च पराश्वासनम्)
वेगेन महता पार्थ पतन्नारायणोरसि
vegena mahatā pārtha patannārāyaṇorasi
“O Pārtha, with tremendous speed, he fell upon the chest of Nārāyaṇa.” The line underscores the irresistible momentum of a fated encounter: even a mighty fall is measured against the Supreme, and power joined to haste—ungoverned by right understanding—ends in a humbling collision with a higher order.
तामिन्द्र उवाच गच्छ नहुषस्त्वया वाच्योथ<पूर्वेण मामृषियुक्तेन यानेन त्वमधिरूढ
Unchecked force and haste, even when impressive, meet their limit before the supreme principle (Nārāyaṇa). The verse implicitly commends restraint and right understanding over mere momentum and power.
The speaker addresses Arjuna (“Pārtha”) and describes someone plunging with great speed onto Nārāyaṇa’s chest—an image of sudden impact that conveys both dramatic action and the humbling of a force before the divine.
