Janamejaya said: “Please explain it to me, for I am eager to listen about Hari, the Lord of the Prajāpatis. By hearing (the meanings of) his names, I may become purified—spotless and clear like the autumn moon.”
जनमेजय उवाच
Reverent listening to the Lord’s names and their meanings is presented as a means of inner purification—making the mind clear and stainless, like the autumn moon.
Janamejaya, eager to learn, requests an explanation of Hari’s divine names (as the lord of the Prajāpatis), expressing that hearing them will purify him.
