Bhishma said: “Because of their treacherous injury to the sage named Trita, the two Prajāpati-born seers, Ekata and Dvita, will incur deformity and indeed attain birth among monkeys. Thus, betrayal of trust brings a fitting moral consequence, marking the betrayer with disgrace and a fall in status.”

Betrayal and harmful deceit toward a trusting person—especially a sage—produces inevitable karmic retribution: loss of honor, distortion of one’s rightful state, and a fall into a lower condition.
Bhishma states that Ekata and Dvita, sons of Prajāpati, will suffer deformity and be born as monkeys because they wronged (betrayed and harmed) the sage Trita.
