धर्मस्य बहुद्वारत्वम् — Nārada’s Audience with Indra (Śānti-parva 340)

उत्पन्न एव भवति शरीर चेष्टयन्‌ प्रभु: । न विना धातुसंघातं शरीरं भवति क्वचित्‌,“उसका शरीरमें प्रवेश करना ही उत्पन्न होना बताया जाता है। वही शरीरको चेष्टाशील बनाता है। वही इसके संचालनमें समर्थ है। कहीं भी पाँचों भूतोंके मिलित समुदायके बिना कोई शरीर नहीं होता

“Its entering into the body is what is spoken of as ‘birth’. It makes the body active and is able to direct its workings. Nowhere does any body exist without the combined aggregate of the elements.”
