Bhishma said: “He indeed is the mother, the father, and the teacher of the entire world. O King, you too should always worship the Blessed Lord, Purushottama, for He alone stands as the universal source of care, authority, and guidance for all beings.”

Educational Q&A

The verse teaches that the Supreme Lord (Purushottama) is the universal parent and spiritual guide; therefore, a king should cultivate constant reverence and worship, grounding ethical rule in devotion to the highest source of dharma.

In the Shanti Parva instruction, Bhishma addresses the king (Yudhishthira), urging him to maintain continual worship of Purushottama, framing divine devotion as essential to righteous governance and moral stability after the war.
