Bhishma said: “Whatever instruction the Blessed One has spoken—suited to the present and gathered with an eye to what is to come—has taken firm root in our minds. We shall act accordingly and carry it out just so.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse emphasizes receptive learning and ethical follow-through: wise counsel that addresses both immediate needs and future consequences should be internalized (‘rooted in the mind’) and then implemented faithfully.
Bhishma responds to a revered speaker’s instruction, affirming that the guidance has been understood and firmly retained, and promising to act in accordance with it.
