The Account of Suvarṇaṣṭhīvin
vyatikrāntāsu varṣāsu samaye gamanasya ca | parvato mām uvācedaṃ kāle vacanam arthavat ||
When the rainy season had passed and the time came for us to depart, the Mountain addressed me with words that were timely and full of meaning—setting the stage for counsel shaped by propriety and discernment.
The verse highlights the ethical value of speaking at the right time and with real substance—counsel should be both context-sensitive (kāle) and meaningful (arthavat), not merely talk.
After the rainy season ends and departure becomes appropriate, Parvata (the Mountain, personified) begins to speak to Nārada, introducing a forthcoming instruction or significant message.
