अव्यक्त–पुरुष–विवेकः (Discrimination of Avyakta/Prakṛti and Puruṣa) — Yājñavalkya’s Anvīkṣikī to Viśvāvasu

अनुलोमेन जायन्ते लीयन्ते प्रतिलोमत: । गुणा गुणेषु सततं सागरस्योर्मयो यथा,जैसे समुद्रसे उठी हुई लहरें फिर उसीमें शान्त हो जाती हैं, उसी प्रकार सम्पूर्ण गुण (तत्त्व) सदा अनुलोमक्रमसे उत्पन्न होते और विलोमक्रमसे अपने कारणभूत गुणों (तत्त्व) में ही लीन हो जाते हैं

“In the forward order they are born, and in the reverse order they dissolve. The guṇas ever merge back into the guṇas that are their causes, like the waves of the sea, which rise from the ocean and grow still within it again.”
