तत्र तान् प्रवहो वायु: प्रतिगृह्लाति भारत । वीतरागान् यतीन् सिद्धान् वीर्ययुक्तांस्तपोधनान्,वहाँ प्रवहनामक वायु-अभिमानी देवता उन वीतराग शक्तिसम्पन्न सिद्ध तपोधन महापुरुषोंको सूर्य-अभिमानी देवतासे अपने अधिकारमें ले लेता है
tatra tān pravaho vāyuḥ pratigṛhlāti bhārata | vītarāgān yatīn siddhān vīryayuktāṁs tapodhanān ||
There, O Bhārata, the deity presiding over the ‘Pravaha’ wind receives them into his own sphere—those ascetics who are free from attachment, self-controlled, perfected, endowed with spiritual power, and rich in austerity. The sense is that such accomplished renouncers, having transcended passion, are guided by the cosmic order to a higher divine jurisdiction rather than remaining bound to lower realms.
भीष्म उवाच
Detachment and disciplined ascetic practice elevate a person’s post-mortem course: perfected, passionless renouncers are ‘received’ by higher cosmic agencies, indicating that spiritual attainment aligns one with subtler, superior realms rather than ordinary destinations.
Bhīṣma describes a cosmological process: in a particular region/phase, the Pravaha wind-deity takes charge of accomplished ascetics—vītarāga yatis and siddhas—signifying their transition under a higher divine jurisdiction.
