Saṃhāra-krama (The Sequence of Cosmic Dissolution) — Yājñavalkya’s Discourse

Bhishma said: The yogin who, by inner absorption, establishes the self within the Self and becomes unwavering destroys his sins and attains the imperishable state that is reached by the purified. Ethically, the verse presents steadiness of mind and inward integration as the means to moral cleansing and the highest, deathless good.
Steady meditative absorption—merging the individual self into the inner Self—purifies one from sin and leads to the imperishable goal attained by the purified.
In the Shanti Parva’s instruction on dharma and liberation, Bhishma teaches Yudhishthira about yogic steadiness and its ethical-spiritual fruit: purification and attainment of the deathless state.
