Chapter 29

हिरण्यकवचा: सर्वे सर्वे चोत्तमधन्विन:,“वे सभी राजकुमार सुवर्णमय कवच धारण करनेवाले और उत्तम धनुर्धर थे। एक-एक राजकुमारको अलग-अलग सौ-सौ कन्याएँ ब्याही गयी थीं। प्रत्येक कन्याके साथ सौ-सौ हाथी प्राप्त हुए थे। हर एक हाथीके पीछे सौ-सौ रथ मिले थे

hiraṇyakavacāḥ sarve sarve cottamadhanvinaḥ |

Vāyu said: “All of them wore golden cuirasses, and every one of them was an excellent archer.” The verse highlights royal prosperity and martial readiness—external signs of power that, in the wider ethical frame of the Śānti Parva, invite reflection on how wealth and military excellence should be governed by dharma rather than pride or excess.
