इन्द्रियैस्तु प्रदीपार्थ क्रियते बुद्धिरन्तरा । निश्चक्षुर्भिरजानद्धिरिन्द्रियाणि प्रदीपवत्
Translation
The senses do not illumine objects by themselves; to make things manifest they set the intellect (buddhi) in between. Lacking the power of knowledge, the senses are only helpers—like a lamp—in revealing objects.
