अथ देव्या मतं ज्ञात्वा हृद्गतं यच्चिकीर्षितम् । स समाज्ञापयामास तिष्ठ त्वमिति नन्दिनम्
atha devyā mataṁ jñātvā hṛd-gataṁ yac cikīrṣitam | sa samājñāpayāmāsa tiṣṭha tvam iti nandinam ||
Bhishma said: Then, having understood the Goddess’s intention—what lay in her heart and what she meant to do—Mahādeva issued a clear command to Nandin: “Stand here.” The episode underscores how inner resolve, once discerned, is met with decisive, disciplined action by those entrusted with duty.
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights disciplined adherence to duty: once a righteous authority discerns the true intention behind an action, proper order and restraint are established through clear command, ensuring that power and agency operate within dharmic boundaries.
Śiva perceives what Devī (Pārvatī) has in mind and what she intends to do. In response, he instructs Nandin to remain stationed there, indicating a deliberate arrangement or guarding action in anticipation of Devī’s intended course.
