Kapila said: “Those who truly know the Veda know everything, for in the Veda all things are grounded and established. Indeed, the Veda is the final resort for all understanding: it sets forth the standing of whatever exists and whatever does not exist.”

Educational Q&A

Kapila asserts the Veda as the comprehensive foundation of knowledge: the Veda is presented as the settled authority that accounts for both what exists and what does not, grounding inquiry into dharma and reality.

Within the Śānti Parva’s reflective teachings, Kapila is expounding a doctrinal point about authority and knowledge, emphasizing that Veda-knowers are said to know all because the Veda is treated as the ultimate basis for understanding existence and non-existence.
