परिव्राजक-आचारः (Conduct of the Wandering Renunciant) — Mahābhārata, Śānti-parva 269

संतोषमूलस्त्यागात्मा ज्ञानाधिष्ठानमुच्यते । अपवर्गमतिर्नित्यो यतिधर्म: सनातन:

santoṣamūlas tyāgātmā jñānādhiṣṭhānam ucyate | apavargamatir nityo yatidharmaḥ sanātanaḥ ||

Kapila said: “That discipline is said to be grounded in knowledge, whose root is contentment and whose very nature is renunciation. With the mind ever set on liberation, this is the eternal, timeless dharma of the ascetic.”
