परिव्राजक-आचारः (Conduct of the Wandering Renunciant) — Mahābhārata, Śānti-parva 269

आगमाश्च यथाकाले संकल्पाश्न यथाक्रमम्‌ । अपेतकामक्रोधानां दुश्चराचारकर्मणाम्‌,उन्होंने काम और क्रोधको त्याग दिया था। उनके आचार-कर्म दूसरोंके लिये आचरणमें लाने अत्यन्त कठिन थे। उनके हृदयमें यथासमय शास्त्र-ज्ञान और सत्यंकल्पका क्रमश: उदय होता था

āgamāś ca yathākāle saṅkalpāś ca yathākramam | apetakāmakrodhānāṃ duścarācārakarmaṇām ||

Kapila said: “In due season, scriptural insight arose in them, and in due order their true resolve matured. Having cast off desire and anger, their conduct and disciplines were so exacting that others found them exceedingly hard to emulate.”
