Instruction on the Cessation of Craving

Kapila said: “Set aside the treatises of mere dialectic, and explain the meaning of the Āgama in accordance with the Āgama itself. A dreadful doubt has arisen in my mind, and you alone can dispel it. You said that, abiding in the true path, one can here and now directly behold the fruit of the yogic way. I ask: of the object you worship, what is its most manifest, directly perceptible fruit in this very life? Establish it without leaning on argumentative reasoning, so that I may truly understand the intent of the Āgama.”

Educational Q&A

Kapila prioritizes understanding grounded in Āgama (authoritative tradition) and demands a description of yoga’s fruit that is directly verifiable in lived experience, not merely established through debate or abstract logic.

In a philosophical exchange, Kapila challenges his interlocutor to clarify what tangible result arises from the worship/practice being advocated, asking for an explanation based on scriptural tradition and direct perception rather than argumentative reasoning.
