Instruction on the Cessation of Craving
नाक्रोशमृच्छेन्न वृथा वदेच्च न पैशुनं जनवादं च कुर्यात् । सत्यव्रतो मितभाषो5प्रमत्त- स्तथास्य वाग्द्वारमथो सुगुप्तम्,किसीको गाली न दे, व्यर्थ न बोले, दूसरोंकी चुगली या निन््दा न करे, मितभाषी हो, सत्य वचन बोले तथा इसके लिये सदा सावधान रहे--ऐसा करनेसे वाक्-इन्द्रियरूप द्वारकी रक्षा होती है
nākrośam ṛcchen na vṛthā vadec ca na paiśunaṃ janavādaṃ ca kuryāt | satyavrato mitabhāṣo ’pramattaḥ tathāsya vāg-dvāram atho suguptham ||
Kapila teaches that one should not resort to abuse, should not speak pointlessly, and should not engage in slander or rumor-mongering. One should be devoted to truth, speak with restraint, and remain continually vigilant; by such discipline, the “gate” of speech—the faculty of speech—becomes well-guarded.
