Determination of the Means to Liberation

“In the Kali age, the notion ‘this is mine, not his’ will no longer function as a reliable restraint. People will brazenly seize others’ wealth, and the ordinary conduct of society—its shared livelihood and mutual dealings—will not endure. If you know a remedy for this, tell me.”

Educational Q&A

When the moral force behind rightful ownership and mutual restraint collapses, society’s basic functioning (lokayātrā) becomes impossible; therefore one must seek a dharmic remedy that can sustain trust and justice even in Kali Yuga.

Dhumatsena warns that in Kali Yuga people will openly appropriate others’ wealth, making normal social life unworkable, and he asks his interlocutor to propose a solution.
