Dyumatsena said: Even an unrighteous man may, at some time, acquire good conduct; and even from the unrighteous, a worthy and admirable offspring can be born. Thus, one should not despair of moral transformation, nor judge the future solely by present character or lineage.

Educational Q&A

Character is not fixed: a wicked person can become virtuous, and goodness can arise even from an unrighteous background. Therefore, one should allow for reform and avoid rigid judgments based only on present behavior or lineage.

Dyumatsena offers a reflective ethical observation within the Shanti Parva’s instruction-oriented discourse, emphasizing the possibility of moral change and the unpredictability of virtue and vice across generations.
