Narada said. Sthāṇu (Mahādeva) said: “O Lord, O Grandfather (Brahmā)! Know that my present resolve and purpose is directed toward the safeguarding of creation and the ordering of progeny. These beings have been created by you; therefore, O Pitāmaha, do not be angered with them.”
नारद उवाच
The verse emphasizes ethical restraint in authority: since beings are created under divine ordinance, governance should be guided by protection and order rather than anger. It frames wrath as something to be checked for the welfare of creation.
In Nārada’s narration, Mahādeva (Sthāṇu) addresses Brahmā (Pitāmaha), explaining that his intention concerns the regulation and protection of creation, and he urges Brahmā not to be angry with the beings Brahmā himself has created.
