Shloka 4

तत्‌ भवानेवमभ्यस्थ वर्ततां श्रूयतां तथा । एक एव चरेद्‌ धर्म सिद्धयर्थमसहायवान्‌,बेटा! तुम इस संन्यास-धर्मके नियमोंको सुनो और उन्हें अभ्यासमें लाकर उसीके अनुसार बर्ताव करो। संन्यासीको चाहिये कि वह सिद्धि प्राप्त करनेके लिये किसीको साथ न लेकर अकेला ही संन्यास-धर्मका पालन करे

tat bhavānevam abhyasya vartatāṃ śrūyatāṃ tathā | eka eva cared dharma-siddhyartham asahāyavān ||

Vyāsa said: “Having thus practiced it, live accordingly; listen further as well. For the sake of attaining spiritual accomplishment, one should follow the dharma of renunciation alone—without taking any companion.”
