धूतपाप्मा च मेधावी लघ्वाहारो जितेन्द्रिय:
dhūtapāpmā ca medhāvī laghvāhāro jitendriyaḥ
Vyāsa said: “He is one whose sins have been washed away; he is intelligent, moderate in food, and master of his senses.”
व्यास उवाच
Moral clarity and spiritual fitness are marked by inner purification, discernment, moderation in consumption, and mastery over the senses—virtues central to dharma and disciplined living.
In the didactic setting of the Śānti Parva, Vyāsa characterizes an ideal person (or qualified seeker) by listing defining traits: purified from wrongdoing, intelligent, restrained in eating, and self-controlled.
