Vyāsa said: “In the very beginning, the Lord fashions creation from the words of the Veda. The names of the seers, the names of all things as arranged according to the Vedic order of creation, the many forms of living beings, and the ordinances governing their actions—all this the glorious Prajāpati establishes at the dawn of the world in accordance with Vedic speech.”
व्यास उवाच
Creation and moral order are presented as grounded in Vedic śabda: the Lord/Prajāpati establishes names, forms, and the rules governing action in conformity with the Veda, implying that dharma aligns with an objective cosmic structure rather than personal preference.
Vyāsa explains a cosmological principle within Śānti Parva’s instruction: at the beginning of the world, the creator (Prajāpati/Īśvara) organizes beings—assigning names, forms, and karmic ordinances—by following the Veda’s stated order of creation.
