Indra and Namuci on grief, composure, and inevitability

एवं त्वक्चक्षुषी जिह्नला नासिका चेति पठचमी । स्पर्शे रूपे रसे गन्धे तानि चेतो मनश्न॒ तत्‌,इसी प्रकार त्वचा, नेत्र, जिह्ला और नासिका भी क्रमशः स्पर्श, रूप, रस और गन्धके आश्रय तथा अपने आधारभूत महाभूतोंके स्वरूप हैं। इन सबका कारण मन है, इसलिये ये सब-के-सब मनःस्वरूप हैं

evaṁ tvak-cakṣuṣī jihvā nāsikā ceti pañcamī | sparśe rūpe rase gandhe tāni ceto manaś ca tat ||

Bhishma explains that the skin, the eyes, the tongue, and the nose—making five in all—are each grounded in their respective fields of experience: touch, form, taste, and smell. Yet their common root is the mind; therefore, all these sense-faculties are ultimately to be understood as dependent on, and shaped by, the mind itself.
