बलीन्द्रसंवादः — Kāla, Anityatā, and the Limits of Agency

Mahābhārata 12.217

वैमनस्यं च विषये यान्त्यस्य करणानि च । तस्मात्‌ तन्मात्रमादद्याद्‌ यावदत्र प्रयोजनम्‌,उससे साधककी इन्द्रियाँ भी विषयोंकी ओरसे विरक्त हो जाती हैं। इसलिये उतना ही अन्न ग्रहण करना चाहिये, जितना जीवन-रक्षाके लिये वाउ्छनीय हो

Bhishma said: By this, the practitioner’s senses also turn away from sense-objects in dispassion. Therefore one should take only as much food as is necessary for the preservation of life.
