एते भावा जगत् सर्व वहन्ति सचराचरम् | श्रिता विरजसं देव॑ यमाहु: प्रकृतेः परम्
ete bhāvā jagat sarva vahanti sacarācaram | śritā virajasaṃ devaṃ yam āhuḥ prakṛteḥ param ||
Bhishma said: “These fundamental states and principles sustain the entire universe—everything moving and unmoving. They rest upon that stainless, passionless Divine Being, whom the wise declare to be beyond Prakriti (material nature).”
भीष्म उवाच
All cosmic functions and the entire animate–inanimate world are upheld by deeper principles, yet ultimately depend upon a transcendent, rajas-free Divine reality that stands beyond material nature (Prakriti).
In Shanti Parva’s instruction, Bhishma continues his philosophical exposition to Yudhishthira, explaining the metaphysical basis of the universe and pointing to a supreme principle beyond Prakriti upon which all states of existence rely.
