Guru’s Instruction on Dream, Mind, Guṇas, and Knowing Brahman
Svapna–Manas–Guṇa–Brahma-vicāra
तथैव चान्ये बहवो दानवा युद्धदुर्मदा: । न सहन्ते सम देवानां समृद्धि तामनुत्तमाम्
tathaiva cānye bahavo dānavā yuddha-durmadāḥ | na sahante sama devānāṃ samṛddhiṃ tām anuttamām ||
Bhishma said: “In the same way, many other Dānavas too—made arrogant by war—cannot endure the gods’ equal standing and their unsurpassed prosperity.”
भीष्म उवाच
Unchecked martial pride and envy make one unable to tolerate others’ legitimate prosperity; such intolerance fuels adharma and conflict against the established cosmic order.
Bhīṣma continues describing how various Dānavas, emboldened by warfare, resent the gods’ flourishing status and cannot bear their superior prosperity, setting the stage for hostility.
