Bhīṣma said: “Then all those Dānavas, terrified by that thunderous roar, fell to the earth as if life had left them. Overwhelmed and bewildered by the radiance of Viṣṇu, they lost their senses and strength.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights that adharma-driven power (here, the Dānavas) collapses when confronted with divine tejas: arrogance and aggression can be checked not only by weapons but by the overwhelming presence of higher order, which strips away delusion and destabilizes unrighteous resolve.
After a mighty roar is heard, all the Dānavas become terrified and fall down as if lifeless. They are stunned and lose awareness because they are overwhelmed by Viṣṇu’s radiance.
