tasya pūrvam ajāyanta daśa tisraś ca bhārata | prajāpater duhitaraḥ tāsāṁ jyeṣṭhā bhavad ditiḥ bharatanandana ||
Bhīṣma said: “O Bhārata, earlier there were born thirteen daughters of Prajāpati Dakṣa; among them, the eldest was Diti, O delight of the Bharatas.”
