इन्द्रियाणि मनश्लैव विज्ञानान्यस्थ भारत । सप्तमी बुद्धिरित्याहु: क्षेत्रज्ञ: पुनरष्टम:

Transliteration

indriyāṇi manaś caiva vijñānāny aṣṭha bhārata | saptamī buddhir ity āhuḥ kṣetrajñaḥ punar aṣṭamaḥ ||

Translation

Bhīṣma said: “O Bhārata, the sense-faculties, the mind, and the modes of cognition are counted as eight. They say that buddhi (the discerning intellect) is the seventh, and the kṣetrajña—the knower of the field, the witnessing Self—is again the eighth.”
