Shloka 50

निर्धनो5स्मि द्विजश्रेष्ठ नापि वेदविदप्यहम्‌ । वित्तार्थमिह सम्प्राप्तं विद्धि मां द्विजसत्तम,द्विजश्रेष्ठ! मैं निर्धन हूँ और वेदको भी नहीं जानता; अतः द्विजप्रवर! मुझे धन कमानेके लिये इधर आया हुआ समझें

nirdhano ’smi dvijaśreṣṭha nāpi vedavid apy aham | vittārtham iha samprāptaṁ viddhi māṁ dvijasattama ||

He said: “O best of twice-born brāhmaṇas, I am poor, and I am not even a knower of the Vedas. Know me to have come here for the sake of earning wealth, O foremost among the twice-born.”
