नास्ति नासीन्नाभविष्यद्‌ भूतं कामात्मकात्‌ परम्‌ | एतत्‌ सारं महाराज धर्मार्थावत्र संस्थितौ,सभी प्राणी कामना रखते हैं। उससे भिन्न कामना-रहित प्राणी न कहीं है, न कभी था और न भविष्यमें होगा ही; अत: यह काम ही त्रिवर्गका सार है। महाराज! धर्म और अर्थ भी इसीमें स्थित हैं

O great king, there is no being—there never was, nor will there ever be—beyond the nature of kāma (desire). Therefore kāma is the very essence of the three aims. O Maharaja, even dharma and artha are established within it.
